Характеристика мовленнєвої поведінки жінок на прикладах вживання предикатів знання у романі Ієна Мак’юена “Lessons”

Abstract
UKR: Останні лінгвістичні наукові розвідки все більше і більше зосереджують увагу на вивченні впливу гендерного фактору на мовлення учасників комунікативного процесу. Найчастіше зазначається про характерне для жінок більш емоційне, порівняно з чоловічим, мовлення; варіювання жіночої і чоловічої мовленнєвої поведінки залежно від їх статусу; вивчення впливу стереотипів на мовлення різноґендерних мовців. Статтю присвячено аналізу вживання предикатів знання у жіночому мовленні з метою передавання знань або повідомлення інформації. Ілюстративним матеріалом слугують приклади з роману сучасного британського письменника Ієна Мак’юена “Lessons” (2022), який є хронікою подій сучасної історії. Автор не дотримується хронологічного порядку викладення, включаючи описи подій різної давнини і локацій у художню тканину твору, натомість концентрує увагу на житті головного героя Роланда Бейнса, яке розгортається на фоні масштабних історичних подій та катастроф: від Суецької кризи та аварії на Чорнобильській АЕС до пандемії COVID-19. Дотепер не існує дослідження, яке було б зосереджене на вивченні вживання предикатів знання у мовленні представників різних гендерних груп, зокрема у зв’язку з їх професією чи роллю наставника. Вибір предикатів знання для здійснення дослідження продиктований ще й тим, що мовлення безпосередньо пов’язане з мисленням, а тому вивчення вживання зазначених лексичних одиниць окремим героєм, дозволяє додати рис до його образу. У пропонованій розвідці увага звернена на жіночі персонажі, майстерно вписані у канву художнього твору, без згадки про які, читач не отримав би належного розкриття образу головного героя. Дослідження здійснене на аналізі мовлення трьох героїнь, які зіграли ключову роль у житті Роланда: матір, вчителька і дружина. Авторська репрезентація мовленнєвої поведінки цих персонажів є відображенням їх поведінки у цілому, а тому героїні стають більш зрозумілими завдяки аналізу їхнього мовлення. Такий підхід дозволив краще зрозуміти характер жіночих персонажів, які вирізняються своєю небагатослівністю, а також виокремити фактори, які впливали на їх характер, а потому сформували їх мовлення.
ENG: Recent linguistic research has increasingly focused on the study of the influence of gender on the speech of participants in the communication process. The most frequently mentioned issues are the following: emotionality of women’s speech comparing to men’s one; difference in women’s and men’s speech behaviour depending on their status; studying the influence of stereotypes on the speech of different gender speakers. The article is devoted to analyse the use of knowledge predicates in women’s speech to transmit knowledge or information. The examples are taken from the novel Lessons (2022), the chronic of modern history by the contemporary British writer Ian McEwan. The author does not follow the chronological order, including descriptions of events of different times and locations in his literary work. The novel focuses on the protagonist Roland Baines, whose life unfolds against the historical upheavals from the Suez Crisis and the Chornobyl disaster to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no research that focuses on the use of knowledge predicates in the speech of representatives of different gender groups, in particular in relation to their profession or role as a mentor. The choice of knowledge predicates for the study is also dictated by the fact that speech is directly related to thinking, and therefore the study of the use of these lexical items by an individual character allows us to add features to their images. Our attention is focused on female characters, skillfully depicted in the novel. The study is based on the analysis of the speech of three characters who played a key role in Roland’s life: his mother, teacher and wife. The author’s representation of the speech behaviour of these characters is a reflection of their behaviour in general, and therefore the characters become more understandable through the analysis of their speech. This approach allowed us to understand the character of females, who are distinguished by their laconicism, as well as to identify the factors that influenced their character and therefore influenced their speech.
