Abstract
UKR: У дисертації досліджується своєрідність художнього стилю О. Генрі, який оприявнюється за допомогою вміщених морфологічних особливостей та лексико-стилістичних засобів, зокрема у прямій мові головних та другорядних персонажів. Матеріалом дослідження слугують вісім коротких оповідань О. Генрі: «Дари волхвів», «Кімната на горищі», «З любові до мистецтва», «Фараон і хорал», «Приворотне зілля Айкі Шоенштайна», «Золото і кохання», «Роман біржового маклера», «Двадцять років потому». Мета дослідження – за допомогою вивчення вживання морфем та аналізу лексико-семантичних особливостей мовлення, схарактеризувати образи головних та другорядних персонажів новел О. Генрі з його збірки The Four Million (1906). Об’єктом дослідження є новелістика американського письменника О. Генрі. Методи дослідження – метод суцільної вибірки, дефінітивний метод, описовий метод у комбінації з прийомами спостереження та узагальнення, метод стилістичного аналізу, метод кількісного аналізу, загальнонаукові методи: спостереження, опис, систематизація, індукція, дедукція та емпірико-теоретичні: аналіз, синтез.
ENG: The total volume is 137 pages, the main text is 110 pages. The bibliography has 101 items, including 19 in Cyrillic, 82 in Latin. The dissertation investigates the originality of O. Henry’s literary style, which is revealed through the morphological features and lexical and stylistic means, in particular in the direct speech of the main and minor characters. The material of the study is eight short stories by O. Henry: “The Gift of the Magi”, “The Skylight Room”, “A Service of Love”, “The Cop and the Anthem”, “The Love-Philtre of Ikey Schoenstein”, “Mammon and the Archer”, “The Romance of a Busy Broker”, “After Twenty Years”. The relevance of the study is is to characterise the main and minor characters of O. Henry’s short stories from his collection The Four Million (1906) by means of studying the use of morphemes and analysing the lexical and semantic features of speech. The purpose of the study is is to determine the relevance of the author’s use of stylistic devices and to analyse their role in the creation of main and minor characters. The object of study is the short stories of the American writer O. Henry. Methods of the study: continuous sampling method, definitive method, descriptive method in combination with observation and generalisation techniques, stylistic analysis method, quantitative analysis method, general scientific methods: observation, description, systematisation, induction, deduction and empirical-theoretical methods: analysis, synthesis.
