Abstract

UK: Railway crossings are areas of increased danger for traffic both by railways and by highways. Therefore, the state of the safety of movement on the crossings constantly requires new approaches and solutions. The best solution to the problem is to build cross-sections at different levels, but this is not always appropriate both from a technical and an economic point of view. The article considers the state of accidents on railway crossings in Ukraine. The problems that contribute to the emergence of dangerous situations on level crossings are highlighted. Among the reasons is too long waiting time for drivers of road vehicles to open a railway crossing. There are also suggested ways to increase the level of safety by using the landing areas with a fixed time of notification, as well as the fact that the length of the closed state of the railway crossing is tied to the production needs and is minimized.
