The new (6th) issue of the journal “University Library at a New Stage of Social Communications Development. Conference Proceedings” is exactly about this. The papers discuss new behaviours / work of library staff based on digital communication technologies, our projects, our goals, our hopes, as well as our doubts and concerns for the maximum contribution of libraries to the development of university communities in a constantly changing world. Full-length articles about the most interesting world library and information practices and ideas were selected, reviewed and recommended by members of the international editorial board of the similarly-named conference (UniLibNSD-2021), which was held in a hybrid format on October 7-8, 2021 in Dnipro, Ukraine. The National Press Monument is a part of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO) which has the sole responsibility of developing the communication and information sectors of the government including media and journalism. This research explains the preservation process of the Indonesian Journalism newsprint implemented at the National Press Monument. The purpose of this study is to give an overview of the importance of Indonesian Journalism newsprint to users of the National Press Monument. Indonesian Journalism newsprint is a vital source containing Indonesia’s press history and information about the Indonesian Journalist Association before Indonesia gained its independence. National Press Monument collects and preserves old Indonesian newsprint and journals on various subjects. Methods. The qualitative approach and observation methods are used for this research. The observation method is used to focus on the preservation practices. Alongside the observation, the technique is the application of in-depth interviews. These methods are used to explain the processes of newsprint preservation. Results. The results of the study have found that National Press Monument used four approaches to preserve newsprint material: preventive, curative, restorative, and digitalization. Preventive action is carried out by controlling temperature, humidity, light, preventing human-caused damage and conducting bookbinding action. The curative operation was done by fumigation using Sulfuryl Fluoride (S02F2). The restorative step is done by connecting parts of torn/perforated paper, and repairing damaged binding. Finally, digitalization. National Press Monument also developed a new method to preserve newsprint material which is called freezing. This new method is aimed to protect the manuscript from any harmful organism. Conclusions. These methods can also be used in libraries. The National Press Monument not only contributes to preserving newsprint material in Indonesia but also to develop new ways in protecting the manuscripts through various policies.; UK: Мета. Це дослідження пояснює процес збереження газетного фонду індонезійської журналістики, що зберігається у Національному пам'ятнику пресі. Мета цього дослідження – дати огляд важливості газетного фонду індонезійської журналістики для користувачів Національного пам'ятника пресі. Газетний фонд індонезійської журналістики є важливим джерелом інформації про історію преси Індонезії та інформації про Асоціацію індонезійських журналістів до здобуття Індонезією незалежності. Національний пам'ятник пресі збирає та зберігає старий індонезійський газетнийфонд та журнали різної тематики. Методика. У дослідженні використовуються якісний підхід та методи спостереження. Метод спостереження використовується, щоб зосередитись на методах збереження. Поруч із технікою спостереження застосовується глибинне інтерв'ю. Ці методи використовуються для пояснення процесів збереження газетного фонду. Результати. Результати дослідження показали, що National Press Monument використовує чотири підходи для збереження газетних матеріалів: профілактичний, лікувальний, відновлювальний та оцифрований. Профілактичні дії здійснюються шляхом контролю температури, вологості, освітлення, запобігання пошкодженням з вини людини та проведення палітурних робіт. Лікувальнана операція проводилася шляхом фумігації з використанням сульфурилфториду (S02F2). Відновлювальний етап виконується шляхом з'єднання частин розірваного/перфорованого паперу та відновлення пошкодженої палітурки. Зрештою, цифровізація. As the world continuously grapples with the massive impact of COVID-19 pandemic on all domains of life, higher education institutions (HEIs) are at the forefront of reshaping and redefining their operations, mostly transitioning into online delivery of services where libraries are not exempted. The way libraries around the globe continue to face their mandate of providing knowledge resources merits research attention, especially in the context of the present health crisis. This study aimed at identifying the challenges and strategies of academic libraries during COVID-19 crisis among member schools of NOCEI, a consortium of higher educational institutions in Region IV-A (CALABARZON), Philippines. Methods. Descriptive in nature, the study utilized online survey which was accomplished by 31 head librarians from the said organization. Results. Findings revealed that barriers on transformation from physical collections to digital format, reduced budget cuts and decrease in purchasing and usage of print and physical materials are the top challenges encountered while there was a strong agreement on strategies utilized primarily on the availability of various online library services for clients and assistance through the Ask a Librarian chat service where students have access to librarian’s help in real-time through virtual chat. Conclusions. As a whole, results implicate the need for HEIs to ensure sustainability of library services during and beyond the pandemic, highlighting various measures that would respond to the ever changing landscape of education and knowledge sharing.; UK: Мета. Оскільки світ безперервно бореться з величезним впливом пандемії COVID-19 у всіх сферах життя, заклади вищої освіти, в т. ч. і бібліотеки, знаходяться в авангарді перебудови та переосмислення своєї діяльності, переважно переходячи на онлайн-послуги. Те, як бібліотеки по всьому світу продовжують виконувати свої завдання з надання інформаційних ресурсів, заслуговує на увагу дослідників, особливо в контексті нинішньої кризи в галузі охорони здоров'я. Це дослідження було спрямовано на визначення проблем та стратегій академічних бібліотек під час кризи COVID-19 серед шкіл-членів NOCEI, консорціуму вищих навчальних закладів у регіоні IV-A (Calabarzon), Філіппіни. Методика. В описовому дослідженні використовувалось онлайн-опитування, проведене 31 головним бібліотекарем із зазначеної організації. Результати. Результати показали, що перешкоди на шляху переходу від фізичних колекцій до цифрового формату, скорочення бюджетних асигнувань та закупівель, використання друкованих та фізичних матеріалів є головними проблемами, з якими зіткнулися, коли було досягнуто твердої згоди щодо стратегій, які використовуються в першу чергу для доступності різних онлайн-послуг бібліотек для користувачів та допомоги через службу чату «Запитайте бібліотекаря», де студенти мають доступ до консультацій бібліотекаря в режимі реального часу через віртуальний чат. This paper aims to investigate the types and scope of community engagement and outreach activities of academic libraries while the physical library spaces remain closed or operating on a limited capacity. It also looks at the tools and methods employed to implement such activities. The paper also attempts to uncover patterns or emerging themes as libraries explore innovative ideas and take new initiatives for the betterment of the community they serve. Methods. The study employs a website and Facebook page survey of AUN (ASEAN University Network) Inter-Library Online (AUNILO) member-libraries. The following six outreach categories will be utilized: (1) Collection-Based Outreach; (2) Instruction & Services-Based Outreach; (3) “Whole Person” Outreach; (4) Just for Fun Outreach; (5) Partnerships and Community-Focused Outreach; and (6) Multi-Pronged Themed Events and Programming. Said categories were derived from Farrell and Mastel (2016) paper entitled “Considering Outreach Assessment: Strategies, Sample Scenarios, And A Call to Action.” Results. Findings of the study will offer some insights on how libraries strengthen their roles in transforming societies as they provide opportunities to bring about positive change in their communities. Moreover, this paper will also challenge libraries to take a closer look at their own activities and consider how they can design creative and inspiring ways to connect with their communities. Conclusions. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, libraries are proactively pivoting their community engagement and outreach efforts online and are finding new ways to serve faculty, students, and partners. Libraries are committed to strengthening the resilience and recovery of the community through working collaboratively with its members and building partnerships with relevant organizations.; UK: Мета. Цей документ спрямований на вивчення типів і масштабів залучення громади та інформаційно-пропагандистської діяльності академічних бібліотек, тоді як фізичні приміщення бібліотеки залишаються закритими або працюють з обмеженими можливостями.
